Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look together at these Diode Dynamics SS3 Pro LED Fog Pod Lights. Now these three-inch LED fog pod lights are going to give you bright light with reduced glare for improved visibility and safety. These are gonna be a great option to consider if you're thinking about upgrading the fog lights on your vehicle. As you can see, I have this one already connected to my power supply here, and one of my favorite features of these lights is the backlight.

And that's what you're seeing right now is the white backlight on this light. This is gonna be great to add a stylish touch to your vehicle for more visibility when you're not using that main beam. So I'm gonna go ahead and shut off my studio lights here and go a little bit farther out just so you can see what this looks like from the distance in low light or dark conditions, so it's a great looking backlight. And then I'm gonna go ahead and kick on the beam, again, just so you can see the difference there, so the backlight and then our beam, and I'm gonna see if I can shine this on the wall behind me, so that fog beam pattern is going to give you high-intensity light in an extremely wide field of view as you can see there. This light has a color temperature of 6,000 Kelvin, so the cool white color is gonna match most of your factory lights, and this is a very crisp light, very clear light, so this is going to give you quite a bit of visibility.

This does have a raw lumen rating of 5,796 lumens and a measured lumen rating of 3,000, so let me go ahead and turn my studio lights back on. Even with the brightness of my overhead lights, you can still see how bright this light is, and there's that beam on the wall behind me. Now, again, taking another closeup view here, the peak-beam intensity of these lights is 11,900 candela. Now, in case you don't know, candela ratings measure the directional light output, and it's how anything is rated where you want lights shining in a specific direction. Lumen ratings are just for omnidirectional output, like your regular light bulbs where you want light shining in all directions.

The power draw on that main beam is 2.7 amps, the backlight is 0.03 amps. This light is designed with a newer technology known as custom TIR optics. TIR stands for total internal reflection. So unlike the older technology that uses reflectors or simple projector lenses, which aren't great at focusing all of the light where you want it, this custom design, large TIR optic, actually collects and focuses all of the light forward very efficiently.

And from there, instead of having another external lens, certain lens patterns have been molded directly into the lens surface. This is going to prevent the normal efficiency loss you see with an outside lens. As you probably know, when you shine light through any type of glass or plastic, you're going to lose up to 10% of that light just from it shining through that lens. So by making it part of this lens, you pick up some efficiency there as well. Now, this does include the industry standard integrated Deutsch-style connector, so that pigtail will plug right into the back of that light and it'll clip in securely. And this does also have a breather patch on the back that's going to prevent any moisture buildup, and the heat sinks here on the back of the housing are gonna do a great job of quickly dissipating heat and that's gonna increase the longevity of these lights. Now, both of these lights have been built with high-intensity LED chips and it does feature a durable powder-coated aluminum construction. The heavy-duty construction of these lights will withstand extreme temperatures, corrosion, and vibration. Testing is completed to SAE standards just like your factory lighting components on your vehicle. And in case you didn't know, Diode Dynamics actually designed and engineered and assembled these lights right down the highway from us at their headquarters in the greater St. Louis area. Now, it's the overall measurements of these lights, looking at the overall height from end to end, we're sitting at about three-and-a-quarter inches. That's gonna be the same for the width as well, three-and-a-quarter inches wide. And then the depth from the front of our light to the end of our heat sinks, we're sitting about two- and three-eighths inches deep. Now these lights do draw high current and they do require adequately-sized wiring for safe operation, so if you're not using a Diode Dynamics Wiring Harness, make sure that you're using wire that's size 16-gauge or larger to ensure safe operation. Now, these lights do not come with any brackets or hardware, but we do carry these lights with the option for brackets and hardware or you can buy just one light by itself or one light with bracket and hardware.
